Books

All school books (library and books they have brought home to read to you) need to be sent to school by Monday, May 20st, 2013.

The kindergarteners finished their tests today! They did an wonderful job and worked very hard! They even got to go out for a recess!

We read books from around the world this week. We had suitcases to use during centers where we went to different places around the world.




Here was there math problem this week! They did a wonderful job!

Create an African Village:

There are 13 huts in the village. (Label each hut with a number) Some of the huts are brown and some of the huts are green. There are more green huts then brown huts. (Write a number sentence to show the number brown and green huts) 27 people live the  village. ( Group the people by tens and ones)  There is a fence to keep the animals out of the village. (Make a fence that has a pattern)

We had an assembly today. A chef made smoothies and fruit dip to show the students how to eat healthy! Ask you child about it!
The first graders did an excellent job at their music program! I am so proud of how well they did!

Come Join Cub Scouts! Any boy in K – 4th grade can come to our pack meeting on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00pm in the multipurpose room. A flyer was sent home with students regarding this, but the time has been changed due to the 1st grade concert being moved to the same night. During the days we were at school this week, we learned about plants. This is our garden. They started with a seed and then made the seedling, the growing plant, and the plant that is ready to pick.



During math, we used seeds to add 10s to numbers. 
On Monday, we had visitors. Kendra's ducks enjoyed their day in the classroom.


Pizza Hut's Book It program ends in March. When your child reaches 10 books, they will now receive a Papa Murphy's card.

The students earned a pajama day for being quiet in the halls and during class!! They can wear their pajamas all day but please remember to have tennis shoes for P.E.

We also read Nate The Great. The liked reading a mystery! It is easier to retell when you can't wait for the next page of the book!

We made a rock museum. They learned a lot about rocks!

Cooking it up in Mrs. Swenson class!!

Our theme was cooking this week. We learned that cookbooks are another way of finding information. We also made aprons and wrote opposites on them. We practiced our math facts with pretend food!





We used this video link to write a how to story. They wrote about making microwave popcorn, oatmeal, cereal and peanut butter and jelly!

Talent Show:  March 21, 2013 – Codington County Extension Complex – Doors open at 5:30 show begins at 6:00. Josh Weyh will MC the event. 
 
Come and eat:  Walking tacos, pizza, nachos, cotton candy, pop, baked goods
        
Practice for acts singing or playing an instrument will be held in 5 minute increments from 4:30-5:30

Prizes:
    • $50.00 - 1st place
    • $40.00 - 2nd place
    • $30.00 - 3rd place
    • $20.00 - 4th place
    • $10.00 - 5th place
People's Choice Prize:  $30.00

The class with the most students in attendance will win a pizza party – So, come out and support your classroom spirit!!!
